Victoria Banditface
(a.k.a. "Elsie")
Victoria Banditface (a.k.a. "Elsie") was the top Tucson cat in the Household Pet category of Kino Kat Klub's 1995 Fall All-breed Cat Show. She is a native Tucsonan of three years, and lives in her ranch home with four cats and two humans, Jennifer and Jay Black.
Best Weekend Adventure
The Kino Kat Klub Fall All-breed Cat Show is the only show Elsie's never missed in her two-year stint on the cat-show circuit. Held annually in the Tucson Convention Center, this show draws cats from all over the Southwest while maintaining a friendly, low-key atmosphere. Best of all, it's close to home, so she doesn't have to spend the night huddled behind the heavy curtains of one of those refrigerated hotel rooms.
Best Cat Toy
While Elsie would rather taunt the Tonkinese kittens that litter the household, this is a pastime she can never get away with for long. Her second best toy is "anything with feathers," which would include the sparrow population Elsie observes, tail a-twitching, from her perch in the window overlooking the backyard peach trees. But Elise mostly contents herself with the flamingo-pink feather duster; or, as we see her today, with "pheasant feather on a stick," one of Jenny's affectionate cat-show purchases.
Best Radio Station
Elsie is strictly a classic rock cat, and rubs against the radio when Jenny tunes in to KLPX-96.1 FM. She seems to prefer retro-'80s, but when asked to elaborate...well, let's just say the cat got her tongue.
Best Late-Night Activity
Being a show kitty requires a heightened degree of decorum that any self-respecting housecat is bound to rebel against at some point. Elsie's antidote for the blues is a late-night prowl, cruising the countertops and scattering pens, papers and all other miscellaneous objects in her path with wild abandon. Jenny euphemistically refers to this activity as "cleaning house."
