BITTER BUCKSHOT: Talk about irreconcilable differences.
Poor Huey Maximilian Bonfigliano not only suffers the loneliness
of separation, but his departing wife also committed the unspeakable:
She shot his dog.
All of which prompts a manhood crisis for poor Huey, who feels
only a final reconciliation with his gun-happy spouse can rescue
his tattered libido, in Upstairs Theatre Company's production
of Italian American Reconciliation, by John Patrick Shanley.
Tickets are $5 for the preview performance at 8 p.m. Thursday,
December 4, at the Tucson Center for the Performing Arts, 408
S. Sixth Ave. Opening performance is 8 p.m. Friday, December 5,
with production run continuing at 8 p.m. Wednesday through Friday,
2 and 8 p.m. Saturday, 2 and 7 p.m. Sunday through December 14.

NIGHT MOVES: It made TV history in 1951 as the first opera
commissioned for the small screen. Now the Pima Community College
Opera revives Gian Carlo Menotti's classic tale of a crippled
shepherd kid who sacrifices his crutches to the passing Magi,
in Amahl and the Night Visitors.
Show times are 7 p.m. Friday, December 5, and 2 p.m. Saturday,
December 6, in the PCC Proscenium Theatre, 2202 W. Anklam Road.

GARDEN OF DELIGHTS: The Tucson Botanical Gardens fires
up its Luminaria Nights celebration, now enjoying its 11th year.
Visitors of all ages are invited to stroll the garden paths lit
with more than 2,000 traditional luminarias. Trader Joe's has
kicked in with hot, spiced cider and cookies, and more than 40
musical groups, ranging from children's choirs to classical troupes,
will entertain folks at each of the numerous gardens.
The historic Porter House will be decked out in its holiday regalia,
and the traditional Tree for the Birds will be adorned with edible
ornaments for our feathered friends.
Event runs from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, December
6 and 7, in the Tucson Botanical Gardens, 2150 N. Alvernon Way.
Admission is $5, $3 for TBG members, and $1 for children ages

HIGH-TECH HOLIDAY: The UA Flandrau Science Center celebrates
the season in high-tech form with a pair of stunning light shows.
Holidays in Light features the music of Christmas, Chanukah
and Kwanzaa, with dazzling lights bursting in color to music hailing
from such exotic climes as Hawaii, Peru, South Africa, Russia
and Wales.
'Tis the Season explores the customs surrounding the Winter
Solstice, including the practices of the Christian, Judaic, ancient
Nordic, Egyptian, Celtic and Hopi religions.
Holidays in Light shows at 8:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday,
3:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with 3:30 daily matinees beginning
December 15.
'Tis the Season shows at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday,
2:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with 2:30 daily matinees beginning
December 15.
Tickets range from $4 to $6. The UA Flandrau Planetarium is located
on campus at the corner of Cherry Avenue and University Boulevard.
