ALL YOU RUBES who vote in the City of Tucson and never
get north of Prince Road are being had once again by a city administration
that's in the pocket of the development lobby. And these guys
are so blatant they brag about it.
The pictured sign is currently on North Thornydale Road, almost
to Tangerine Road. If that's "Your bond money," Tucsonans,
you ought to come see where it's being spent--about 12 miles beyond
the city limits. Pack a lunch.
Why is that happening? To bring water into Tucson from the far
north? Hardly--there isn't any. Most wells in this area run between
600 and 1,000 feet.
They're out here running your city water lines to new developments.
Some of those developments are even in Marana.
And why are they doing this?
Could it be because the developers don't want to pay for the
water lines and Marana doesn't have any money?
Could it be that they couldn't build all these ticky-tacky homes
that far north without running the water lines from somewhere
else? Could this be why the development lobby was so panicked
over Proposition 200 and the thought of cutting back on CAP water?
Could this be one more example of subsidized growth?
These are the real questions the Tucson City Council should
consider asking City Manager Mike Brown during his evaluation
process next month.
