Vote, Dammit!

Yes, there are a lot of elections this year, from the Pima County bond questions next month to the national elections coming our way in November. But before all that, you should vote on two other things, and you can find the ballots in this very issue.

It's time to make your choices for the TAMMIES and Best of Tucson ®.

The TAMMIES, of course, are the Tucson Area Music Awards, the Weekly's contest to honor the best of the best in the Tucson music scene. We've updated the categories to reflect the music and technology of today. Also, during the actual event this year--it's slated a little earlier than normal, for June 16 at the Rialto Theatre--we'll be giving out our first TAMMIES critics' awards, honoring the musicians the Weekly's music writers think deserve props. But that's for later--for now, vote for your faves and get the ballot back to us. Support local music!

Then, of course, comes the Best of Tucson ® ballot. Like the TAMMIES ballot, the BOT ballot was revised this year to include more contemporary categories. This is your chance to voice your opinions on the best Tucson has to offer. This year's Best of Tucson issue is scheduled for Sept. 23, and by voting, you're entering yourself in a drawing to win some really cool prizes.

Everyone is strongly encouraged to vote. This week, both ballots can be found in the 12-page Club Crawl supplement, located in the middle of the print edition of the paper. Be sure to note the rules and deadlines for each contest.

Oh, and one more thing: If you're tempted to stuff ballots for either the TAMMIES or Best of Tucson--don't. That's just pathetic.
