The Passion of the Christ

Mel Gibson turns the story of Jesus into a decontextualized violence fest, substituting blood, gore and a good nailing for the words of peace and love that I’m pretty sure Jesus spoke. Of course, I’ve only checked the gospels on this, and I can’t find any other independent sources of verification, but maybe Mel had access to a special EC Horror Comic version of Christ’s last day. Anyway, if you want to see a naked man get beaten to a bloody pulp, then I’d suggest you get some professional help and also watch The Passion of the Christ. If you’re looking for an enlightening film about Jesus, you might want to give this one a miss. Unless you equate "enlightening" with "unbelievably bloody and kind of homo-erotic." Then by all means, toss your dollars at this gore-fest.
