The King of Kong

This may be the best dramatic film of the year, and it’s a documentary! The story of family man and lifelong loser Steve Wiebe’s quest to become the world’s greatest Donkey Kong player gains its bite from Wiebe’s conflict with übergeek Billy Mitchell, a mulleted Tony Robbins wannabe whose dialogue consists solely of discussions of how great, powerful and good he is. When Wiebe’s claims to the throne are dismissed under suspicious circumstances, a year-long quest begins with tense videogaming action and heartfelt asides on the religious power of joysticks and coin slots. Truly dramatic, and not to be missed.—
