The Home Stretch

By the time the next issue of the Weekly hits the streets, the election will have come and gone. By that time, Democrats will hopefully be getting ready to take control of Congress and light a major fire under the Bush administration's collective ass; my domestic partnership registration with the city of Tucson will still count for something; and R.J. Reynolds will be kicking itself for wasting millions unsuccessfully trying to talk Arizonans into a sham of a ballot initiative.

I've gotten a lot of calls from people asking about our endorsements; we're publishing them all again this week. We also have the results of our final Congressional District 8 poll. The results certainly are not good news for Graf supporters.

One thing you won't find in this week's issue: Letters to the editor and guest commentaries on election-related issues that we've received in the last several days. We've been deluged, and due to space and deadlines, there's no way in hell we could get these in. A word of advice to would-be pundits and advocates: Get your letters and commentaries in as soon as possible next time.

As for coverage of the actual election itself: We'll be holding a page or two past our normal deadline to get some results in next week's paper. However, considering the massive volume of races and initiatives, we'll only be able to do so much. I recommend you tune in to blog.tucsonweekly.com on Election Night and in the days following for the latest news, returns and analysis.

Regarding the print version ... well, see ya after the election!
