Something Fowl Afoot

South Copper Bloom Ave.

November 9, 2:10 a.m.

Someone was almost caught stealing an inflatable turkey from a woman's yard, according to a Pima County Sheriff's Department report.

The reportee told a sheriff's deputies she'd been upstairs looking out her bedroom window very late that night when she saw an SUV pull up to her house, emitting a male in a dark-colored hoodie from the passenger side. The male walked into her yard, she said, and grabbed a large Thanksgiving decoration she'd just installed, while an accomplice sat waiting for him in their still-running getaway vehicle. The decoration in question was a large inflatable turkey lit up by orange lights.

The turkey's rightful owner then reportedly "raced down the stairs, grabbed her baseball bat, and went outside to confront the suspects," but they were driving off—with her formerly illuminated blow-up turkey—by the time she got outside. She said the turkey was worth about $30 or $40.

The deputy recorded her statements but had no suspect leads about the giant-turkey thief at the time of the report.
