We all need a helping hand sometimes. Even the hands of a skilled baker and master of sweet treats could use some aid now and again. On July 16, Hotel Congress, 311 E Congress St., will have a bake sale to benefit a pastry chef at Maynards Market & Kitchen, Isaac Thomas, and his family. The family was injured on their way to California by a driver driving on the wrong side of the freeway. Isaac has incurred a pile of medical bills for broken bones in his arms, legs, hips and face. The bake sale will be located in the lobby with pastries prepared by employees from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 to 9 p.m. Live entertainment by Mossferatu, Back to the Well, Sur Block and MK Ultraviolet will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. with a suggested donation for the Thomas family at the door.
