Surly Wench Pub's Kitchen is Open

Renovations to the kitchen are complete at Surly Wench Pub, 242 N. Fourth Ave., and they are serving up some fine pub grub. Menu items such as Hangover Tots and Cooter Fries caught my attention. And for a measly $1.50, you can add bacon or a fried egg to any menu item. My arteries may say no but my taste buds are saying yes. The kitchen is open from 11 a.m. to midnight Sunday though Tuesday and from 11 a.m. to 1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.

Vote for Tucson's Iron Chef

Some of Tucson's finest chefs will be trying to dethrone last year's Iron Chef Tucson champion, Ryan Clark of Lodge on the Desert. The culinary battle to decide this year's victor takes place July 6 at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort. A list of Clark's opponents is available at ironcheftucson.com. The contenders will be giving a preview of their skills from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, May 30, at Lodge on the Desert, 306 N. Alvernon Way. The cost is just $5 per couple or $3 per person and 100 percent of the proceeds go to the American Advertising Federation Tucson's Educational Foundation.
