Noshing Around

Coming Soon: 47 Scott

Nicole Flowers, who managed the now-defunct 58 Degrees and Holding Co., and Travis Reese, from the B Line, are opening 47 Scott at 47 N. Scott Ave. Expect American comfort food—burgers, steaks, gourmet macaroni and cheese, and other items—and affordable wine in a comfortable urban atmosphere. Prices will hover around $12 a plate, and there'll be an emphasis on quick lunch service. There's also a patio area that's nicely shaded by mid-afternoon. Lunch will be served Monday through Friday, with dinner hours Monday through Saturday. The opening is scheduled for Saturday, May 8; www.47scott.com.

Chef's Garden for jaxKitchen

Vegetables from jaxKitchen's new chef's garden should start showing up at the eatery within a couple of months, says Brian Metzger, who owns the restaurant with his wife, Sandy. The restaurant's employees and others donated time to plant the garden on a plot of land in Barrio Viejo, and Metzger expects the vegetables to highlight special menus created by chef Casey McQueen by early summer. Fans of the restaurant will be able to track the progress of the garden on a new blog at www.jaxkitchen.com in the near future.
