New Year, New Editor

We ring in a New Year and, in a few weeks, a new editor.

Jimmy Boegle, news editor at Las Vegas CityLife, becomes Editor of the Tucson Weekly on January 29. I've resigned to move on to greener pastures (actually, I'm moving back East, where everything is greener).

Boegle has supervised and edited the news section of the 65,000-circulation alternative weekly in Las Vegas. Both the 50,000-circulation Tucson Weekly and Las Vegas CityLife are owned by Wick Communications, headquartered in Sierra Vista.

Boegle was editor of the Reno News & Review, also an alternative newspaper, before moving to Las Vegas. He is a native of Reno.

He also was a reporter, columnist and assistant managing editor at the Daily Sparks Tribune in Sparks, Nev., and wrote and edited print and broadcast stories for The Associated Press in its San Francisco bureau.

He is the winner of 12 Nevada Press Association Awards in the past four years.

Boegle, 27, is a 1997 graduate of Stanford University.

I was the oddball, as the two previous editors were named James and Jim. So we're due for a Jimmy. The new guy is a true alt-weekly type. He'll bring more pizzazz to The Weekly. You'll like him.
