Kung Fu Panda 2 3D
Animated sequels usually equal huge box-office returns. In the past two summers, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Toy Story 3 both zoomed into what was then the Top 15 all-time in worldwide receipts, and Kung Fu Panda 2 probably has several hundred million dollars on its mind, too—but it will take an unusual path to get there if it makes that kind of money. Even though all of the principals return, Jack Black almost goes solo here, while Angelina Jolie, Seth Rogen and other members of the Furious Five are squarely in the background. Villain Gary Oldman—giving voice to a peacock bent on domination—might be too evil for small kids, especially since there’s not as much humor this time around to balance it out.
