Impact for Good: Arizona Gives Day shines light on nonprofits

One of the biggest days of the year for Arizona nonprofits is approaching — no joke.

Set for April 1, Arizona Gives Day encourages the public to make charitable donations to nonprofits via azgives.org.

“We are looking forward to a successful Arizona Gives Day and want to make it as easy as possible for donors to give, including providing a new giving platform,” said Jennifer Purcell, chief impact officer of AZ Impact for Good, which runs the Arizona Gives Day program.

“With the changes at the federal level this year, Arizona nonprofits find themselves in an unprecedented time of uncertainty. This is an opportunity for Arizona residents to show their support for organizations that serve our community regardless of what happens outside our state.”

More than 800 nonprofits statewide have registered to be part of the annual day of giving, which has generated more than $47 million for Arizona nonprofits over the past decade and raised more than $5.3 million in 2024.

About 350 of the registrants are from Southern Arizona, she said.

This year, donors may give via Venmo or PayPal, as well as traditional methods.

Nonprofits also enter a prize pool for more than 128 prizes Contributions on azgives.org are tax deductible and, in some cases, can count toward the Arizona Qualified Charitable, Qualified Foster Care or Public School Tax Credits.

AZ Impact for Good, formerly the Alliance of Arizona Nonprofits + Arizona Grantmakers Forum, runs the Arizona Gives program.

Kicked off in 2013, the event connects people with causes they believe in, raises awareness of the work being done in area communities by nonprofits, and builds a stronger spirit of philanthropy.

Donors who contributed last year will automatically receive a “repeat your donation” email, enabling them to easily repeat their previous donation(s) online. These donors can also adjust their donation amount or contribute to additional nonprofits.

Individuals and businesses are encouraged to create their own fundraising page to support their favorite nonprofit(s) by finding the nonprofit(s) on azgives.org and selecting the “Create a Fundraiser” button on the nonprofit's profile page.

Donors contributed over $5.3 million to more than 893 Arizona nonprofits during the 2024 Arizona Gives Day. Over the past decade, Arizona Gives Day has generated more than $47 million for Arizona nonprofits. The event also raised $5.3 million in 2023. In total, more than 23,516 donations were made to 893 of the 1,033 participating nonprofits. During the event, 7,345 volunteers pledged a total of 58,943 hours to their favorite nonprofit organizations.
