I'm not entirely sure how this happened, but February will be a busy month for the world of the Weekly.
SO MUCH EXCITEMENT, PEOPLE.
First up, another installment of our endless anniversary festivities, this time at the illustrious Music Box at 6951 E. 22nd St. on Feb. 12 from 5:30 to 9 p.m. or whenever I leave to go bowling next across the parking lot at Tucson Bowl. Yes, there will still be cake, music via the bar's digital jukebox and I've heard rumors of cornhole. The beanbag throwing game. Get your head out of the gutter. Come say hello and have a drink with the various Weekly staffers in attendance.
Then, it's Arizona Beer Week February 15-22. We'll have a lot more on that next week, but keep your calendar open. If you want a preview of some of what's happening around town, check out arizonabeerweek.com.
And, sure, it's not actually February, but on Friday, we announced the March Radness show coming up on March 8. Taking over Club Congress and the Rialto Theatre, it's a great show at a great price ($15 now, $20 if you wait around like a sucker) featuring the "J.R. Ewing of Seattle" Sir Mix-A-Lot, San Diego indie-rockers Pinback, synth-chillers YACHT and a bunch of acts you'll probably like as well. Tickets are on sale now. As Mix-A-Lot might say, Tucson, jump on it. (Sorry, it was either that or a "Buttermilk Biscuits" reference.)
On a somewhat related note, we're working on how we manage Tucson events. Right now, we have a form on our website and we get emails via listings@tucsonweekly.com, but we're in the midst of transitioning to one form that will allow illustrious Weekly listings maven Linda Ray to spend less time manually entering event details in our database and more time writing about and publicizing the wonderful and entertaining happenings around Tucson every day. It should be a win/win eventually and possibly a pain transition-wise, but just keep an eye out for more details to come on that front.
Thanks for reading. Hope to see you Wednesday at the Music Box.
