As I type this, the final page proofs for the 2011 Best of Tucson® edition are sitting about an inch and a half from my left elbow.

The art director, the former art director, the assistant editor and I spent part of last Saturday (the part before the mega-monsoon hit and uprooted seemingly every power pole within a one-mile radius of Weekly World Central) at the office finishing things up—and it looks mighty fine.

Check out Best of Tucson® 25: Super Tucson next week! And if you just can't wait a week ... well, rumor has it that some of the results may be leaked a tad early via our Twitter feed. So, if you're not following @tucsonweekly already, you may want to fix that.

Some other dates worth noting:

• On Sept. 29, we'll publish our special Fall Club Crawl® guide, giving you all the deets on our big music event that's coming to downtown Tucson on Saturday, Oct. 1. If you're 21 or older, I have a question for you: Have you taken $8 to Zia Record Exchange and purchased your all-access Club Crawl® wristband yet? If the answer is no ... well, that's something else worth fixing.

• In October, we're bringing you two of my favorite special issues. On Oct. 13, we'll publish our third and final Pride supplement of 2011, giving readers a look at the goings-on in Tucson's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

Then, on Oct. 27, our Yum! dining guide will be published. We're just finalizing the story lineup for Yum! ... and it's going to be pretty darned good.

But first things first: The issue you're perusing right now is pretty darned good, too—especially Tim Vanderpool's revealing story on the power of Arizona's gun lobby.

Enjoy.
