Our first thought when we saw this winner? Wow. A high-school band named the best mariachi band in Tucson, a city chock-full of top-notch mariachi bands? How's that for impressive? Mariachi Rayos Del Sol de Tucson High—an ensemble of the band's "top kids," according to Tucson High's website—was "awesome" when it played at the 2014 Tucson International Mariachi Conference in 2014, winning more than $2,000 in scholarship money and other funds. This band has since made beautiful música at many events throughout the city, including fancy ones. Keep an ear out for these guys.
