The Tucson ArtWalk is holding another event in September with art and live music taking center stage throughout the city.

The event is hosted the first Thursday of every month, with the next event falling 4 to 7 p.m. Sept. 7 in the Foothills Art District at Skyline Drive and Campbell Avenue. Guests can peruse paintings, sculptures, jewelry and furniture at FoR Fine Art, Jane Hamilton Fine Art, Sanders Galleries, Settlers West, Sunset Interiors & Design and the Wilde Meyer Gallery.

“The community’s involvement is really important to us,” said Betty Wilde, a Wilde Meyer Art Gallery co-owner.

“The freedom of people to move about through different spaces and entertainment allows people to enjoy the event and connect with the community.”

As with the other galleries, the arts and sculptures in the Wilde Meyer Art Gallery frequently change its exhibits. The gallery includes many original contemporary arts such as abstract works, landscape, and western works. These works come in different forms from paintings, bronzes, sculptures and glass.

The art on display at the Wilde Meyer gallery will remain there through the end of the month. While the event promotes the artist and sculpture work, the venues also promote local musicians such as Vanessa Myers and Doug Shelton who are playing the Wilde Meyer and Jane Hamilton galleries, respectively.

“It feels good that we are introducing new people to the art world in our area all the time,” Wilde said.

The namesake behind Jane Hamilton Fine Art said the art walk is great for Tucson newcomers who can interact with and see the community and local artists.

“It’s just a nice, relaxed way for people to come in together and appreciate art,” Hamilton said. “What we are seeing is that it is a really good time for people to come in, since it’s still so hot and people still want to do something.”
