For most of this movie’s running time, I thought director Phil Traill and star Sandra Bullock had constructed an almost-decent anti-rom-com, an awkward, sinister film. Since I sit through a seemingly endless stream of formulaic romantic comedies every year, I welcome one that dares to throw a rabid possum into the movie tub. But the film, about a crazy woman (Bullock) stalking a TV news cameraman (Bradley Cooper), tries to go all “message movie” in the end, and it’s a fatal mistake. I’m not saying it was on its way to being a great movie, but it had a chance to be something better than terrible. What they eventually do is a travesty, resulting in one of the worst films of Bullock’s career … and she’s had some bad ones.
