B-Sides: Patsy's Rats

RAT TALE

Although Patsy's Rats might be a Portland-based act, it's undeniable that the band has some real Tucson ties. After all, frontwoman Patsy Gelb is the daughter (and sometimes musical contributor) of the Old Pueblo's patron saint of desert rock: Howe Gelb. Following the release of a three songs in February, Patsy's Rats will be stopping into Tucson's Che's Lounge (415 N. Fourth Ave.) for a special Wooden Tooth Records showcase. Released via La-Ti-Da Records, the trio of tunes are sunny, upbeat rock 'n' roll that's great for a party—meaning Che's is the place to be on Friday, July 1. That won't be the only thing to celebrate that evening, though, as the show's opener will premier a brand new local band Rick and Annie, made up of guitarist Annie Dolan (Louise Le Hir) and drummer Rick Bailey (Texas Trash & the Trainwrecks). The show kicks off at 8 p.m. Cover is free and it is a 21 and over event.
