This account comes from Weekly intern Mariana Dale, currently embedded at the G.O.P. Election Night celebration at the Sheraton Hotel on Grant Road:
Gabriela Saucedo Mercer spoke at 8 p.m. and called on the audience to stay involved post-election and hold officials accountable. "Don't just get happy and celebrate and disappear," Mercer said. "We need you."
"The biggest thing for me would be to retire Grijalva tonight," Mercer said.
Good luck with that, Ms. Mercer; she is currently losing her race against current representative Raul Grijalva, 62.02% to 33.7%.
