Confirmation of some shooting facts via the Pima County Sheriff's Office:
In this update, it is confirmed that an Arizona Department of Game and Fish officer conducted a traffic stop with Loughner on the day of the shooting at 7:34 a.m. at I-10 and Ina Road. This stop was for a red light violation in which Loughner was issued a verbal warning. Their agent conducted a check on Loughner’s Arizona license and a warrant check. The checks revealed Loughner had a valid driver’s license and did not have any outstanding warrants. In addition, on 01/08/11 at 6:59 p.m., a search warrant was executed by the Federal Bureau of Investigation at Loughner’s residence with the assistance of the Pima County Sheriff’s Department. Some of the evidence seized included a letter in a safe from Congresswoman Giffords, on Congressional stationery, dated August 30, 2007. The letter thanked Jared Loughner for attending a “Congress on your Corner” event at the Foothills Mall in Tucson. Also recovered in the safe was an envelope with handwriting on the envelope stating, “I planned ahead,” “My assassination,” and the name “Giffords,” along with what appeared to be Loughner’s signature. The writings also included, “fuck you pigs” and “die bitch.”
It is also confirmed through an interview with Randy Loughner, that on the morning of 01/08/11, he saw his son Jared remove a black bag from a family vehicle. When Randy questioned Jared about the contents of the bag, Jared fled on foot. Randy attempted to follow Jared in his vehicle but lost sight of him.
