District Five Pima County Supervisor Richard Elías' office is looking for applicants to fill up two seats on the Pima County Commission on Trial—the entity that gets to call the shots on vacant judicial positions on the Pima County Superior Court (and then sends the top 3 choices to the governor, who has the last word). 

Applicants must be registered to vote in District Five, as well as must identify their party registration, a media release from Elías' office says. 

The two seats will be filled by two people not registered in the same political party. They cannot be attorneys, elected government officials, or appointed and paid government officials, the release says. 

The commission has a total of 16 members, with the chairman being the Arizona Supreme Court Chief Justice. There are five attorney members and 10 non-attorney members—two from each Pima County district, the press release says. 

If interested in applying, send a one-page letter of interest with your address and political party ( even if it's "no preference" or Independent), and a résumé—all by Dec. 31 of this year.
