That's right: We're closing the first round of Best of Tucson® balloting one month from today.

Confused by what I mean by "first round of balloting?" You have one month to vote submit anything/one/place for any category. Whatever you want! Then, we'll take the top 3 suggestions from each category and we'll have a final round of voting, where you can only vote for the finalists. 

I know, I know, you liked the old way we did balloting, where whomever got the most votes outright took the prize.

Here's the thing: this type of voting is a little more... honest. 

Think of it in terms of pizza. We have a lot (a lot, a lot, a lot) of pizza places in Tucson, and maybe Pizza Place #1 gets the most votes in our first round of voting. That's great for Pizza Place #1! Go those guys! But a lot of people hate them, too. They think Pizza Place #1's sauce is gross and their cheese isn't cheesy enough. Those haters have a variety of lesser known favorite pizza places that simply aren't going to make it into the final round. This second round allows people to say "Man, Unknown Pizza Parlor didn't make it to the finals and is super unappreciated. Still, Pretty Tasty Pizza Parlor is pretty tasty, and way better than Pizza Place #1 and their uncheesey cheese. I'll vote for the tasty place." Turns out, Pretty Tasty Pizza Parlor is preferred overall and those cheesey fools get first place. 

This way, we're polling for over all quality. The pizza that is most widely considered delicious. The Best of Tucson®.
