Since Newtown, There Have Been More Than 3,000 Gun Deaths

As mentioned on the Range back on Jan. 9, Slate partnered with Twitter user @GunDeaths to keep track of every firearm-caused death of every flavor (whether it be in the commission of a crime, in self-defense, by accident, and everything in between), and created an interactive map to accompany their count.

By Slate's count, there have been 3,804 gun deaths since Dec. 14 — nearly five times the deaths since the last time we checked in.

So, in case you were on the fence about the whole "shotguns in bad neighborhoods" thing, keep this in mind—no matter which side you're leaning towards.
