My Favorite New Website, Post-Grammys
Among the culturally aware crowd that reads this website, Arcade Fire are probably sort of a big deal. Sure, they once played Solar Culture, but now they're about as big as an indie band is going to get, headlining festivals, getting endless coverage from NPR, etc. However, for a decidedly more mainstream part of America, when the Canadian minstrels of angst and misery won the Album of the Year at the Grammys last night, the reaction was more "What the hell is an arcade fire?"
Thank you, whoisarcadefire.tumblr.com for collecting the outrage of Lady Gaga fans and others across the country over a completely meaningless award. This selection is my favorite:
Congrats, Arcade Fire. Your album joins such classics as Santana's Supernatural, Toto's Toto IV, and Vaughan Meader's cutting parody of the Kennedy family, The First Family in the hall of Album of the Year winners.
