Interesting topic of conversation at the Marriott: two women discussing Thomas Frank's 2004 book What's the Matter with Kansas?, an examination of why people tend to vote seemingly contrary to their best interests. The book was en vogue during the Bush administration and the last run of Republican control of Congress, but may see a resurgence in popularity if tonight goes how it seems like it will.
