From a press release:
WHEN: Tuesday, August 3, 2010, 6:30-9:00 p.m.
WHERE: Mountain Avenue, between Ft. Lowell & PrinceAll along Mountain Avenue, between Prince & Ft. Lowell, neighbors will find activities, outreach, food, and fun. You’re invited to join us, if you can.
Check in at Casa de los Niños (SE corner of Prince & Mountain) where there will be hula hoops, jump ropes, hop-scotch, blob tag, frisbee, and face-painting for the kids.
Non-profits like Green Retrofit Co-op and Watershed Management will be at Outlet Electric (SW corner of Prince & Mountain). Woods Library and Community Food Bank will have tables to do outreach, and there will be a lemonade stand and bicycle safety information (from Haven to Kleindale). A Tucson Police Patrol will be at Halcyon to talk about crime prevention.
At the MCC Waters of Life Church, Ofelia Zapeda and her husband will be greeting neighbors — she’s the one who wrote the poetry inscribed on the boulders along Mountain Avenue & her husband makes pottery. From 7-8 p.m., candidates running for AZ State Senate in LD 28 have been invited to meet & greet their constituents. We will be making homemade ice-cream and live music to entertain visitors.
We’ll have a hot-dog cart at Carlos & Co. (NW corner of Ft. Lowell & Mountain). After the activities end on Mountain, we have been invited to come enjoy music at our neighborhood bar, the Boondocks.
