B-Sides: Mariah McCammond

MASTER OF STRINGS

Mariah McCammond is no one-trick pony. She sings, she harps, she violins and she's an experienced luther. Her music isn't just about being some heavenly, ethereal backing track with delicately plucked harp arrangements, no. McCammond creates tension, darkness and depth atop harp melodies that expose a new point of view to the instrument. Now McCammond is on the precipice of putting out an EP, titled Vaulted Heart Box, two years in the making.

McCammond is celebrating the release with classical duets from Samantha Bounkeua and Mike Simmons and a performance of some of her own work, new and old. Local piano rock group Sorry About the Garden will close the night. You can catch the unique show at Solar Culture Gallery (31 E. Toole Ave.) on Friday, April 29. The show starts at 8 p.m. and entry is $7 at the door.
